I'm always asked locally why I carry a brick of a radio(my radio of choice is a Motorola Astro Saber) and dont break down and get one these nifty dual banders. Even in my local area guys are raving about getting a dual band radio from China for under $50. It seems that the under $50 radio(Wouxun, Baofeng etc) is an extremely popular radio both with the ham radio and prepper community. I just want to give my perspective from my professional and personal experiences. ![]() I first need to say Im not here to say anyone is wrong in what they are doing, because all of us have our own priorities, ideas etc. Ive been a member of several forums and it seems that there is a common item across the board on what types of communications gear is being utilized by the prepping community.
